Smita Patel is based in San Jose, California and leads the web and communications team at EdSource, a nonprofit media organization covering California’s public education systems. She co-founded the Mountain Children’s Foundation in India and believes deeply in the power of young people to transform their communities from within.

Sonia Mehta is Assistant Professor of Educational Studies at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Her research and teaching focuses on education as a global concern and, among other things, reclaiming submerged stories. She continues to be amazed, wonderstruck and transformed by the stories of mountain children.

Amar Singh
Amar Singh is a philanthropist based in Napa California. He came to the US as a student in the 1960s and worked his way up in Silicon Valley, and now strives to provide opportunities for other young people the world over. Having grown up in the Himalayan town of Nainital, India, he’s particularly passionate about protecting delicate mountain ecosystems and supporting mountain children.
Rosaline Maloney
Rosaline Maloney lives in Oakley, California and is a Certified Financial Planner™ with over a decade of experience in international banking, financial services, and investment consulting. Since 2010 she has been working in biotechnology food ingredient development and manufacturing start-ups in Northern California’s Bay Area. Together with her husband, Jay, she has supported Mountain Children’s Foundation in India since its inception twenty plus years ago.

Jay Maloney lives in Oakley, California and is Director of Stock Plan Administration at Sunrun Inc., the nation’s leading home solar, battery storage, and energy services company, headquartered in San Francisco. Jay is also a passionate blood donor and member of the 200+ club at Stanford Blood Center. Through his work, home, and volunteer activities, Jay is committed to green living and saving the planet, one person at a time, while he and his wife, Rosaline, have been contributing to and supporting Mountain Children’s Foundation during its 20 plus years of empowering children in mountain communities in India.
